A couple years ago, my husband and I rented a cabin at the seashore.
We were planning on having a romantic week for our twenty-fifth anniversary.
We got to the cabin and it was absolutely lovely until we realized there wasn’t a refrigerator in the kitchen. There wasn’t a bed in the bedroom and there were no fixtures in the bathroom. There was no toilet or tub, either. We called the rental office and she was very apologetic. She said they had given the contractor’s the wrong dates, but they would be there the next day. I asked her if she expected to stay there without a bed, or a working bathroom. She set up a reservation for us at the hotel that was less than a mile from the cabin. We got to the hotel and it was so hot in the lobby, that I thought I was going to pass out. They told us the air conditioning had gone down in the hotel, but the room HVAC was still working. We got into our room and my husband immediately set the thermostat. In the middle of the night, it go so cold that we were shivering. He got up again and reset the thermostat. It was beginning to get a bit warmer and we soon went back to sleep. By the time we woke up, it was so hot in the room that we couldn’t breathe. I had a very bad feeling that this was just the beginning of a very long week. I’m just hoping they quickly fix the cabin.
