I got a great business idea from my Great Aunt Sarah, who I speak to on a regular basis.
She is a widow, living in a retirement community, but has always been an endless source of family gossip and colorful stories.
Since my mom passed she has really become so very important to me, and we talk a couple of times a week, maybe more if my job allows it. I have been working over 50 hours a week lately, and it is wearing me out. Aunt Sarah was telling me about how earlier that week she had been having problems with her air conditioner. She had called the property manager, who sent over a handyman to check out the AC unit, and the man made her feel very uncomfortable. She just didn’t like having this creepy stranger in her house, looking at all her stuff, and wished she could have gotten a female A/C repair person instead. This set off a lightbulb in my head, because I do dozens of HVAC service calls every week, and when a single mother answers her door she is always glad to see me. This isn’t every women, of course, but there are a lot of us out there who would just feel more comfortable with a female HVAC tech coming into the house. After a few days I called Aunt Sarah back and told her about my idea for a company with only female HVAC techs. She loved the idea, and told me that I should name the company Miz HVAC.
