All that he had was chunks of wood and some dryer lint to light the fire for the heating system
You have never lived until you have used a wood stove as a heating system. My first time ever using a wood stove was while I was housesitting for a friend of mine. He and his family were going to be out of town for a week, and they wanted somebody to watch their house for them. I live in a tiny apartment, and I took the opportunity to house sit in the large house so that I could relax. While I was there, he told me about how the heating systems worked. He had a furnace on one side of the house, but the furnace only really kept the bedrooms on one side of the house warm. The furnace would keep the living room at around 60 degrees, which was chilly when you were trying to relax. He told me that if I wanted to stay warm in the living room, I would need to use the wood stove in addition to the furnace. However, he never explained how he lit the woodstove. All that he had was chunks of wood and some dryer lint to light the fire for the heating system. The pieces of wood took forever to get lit, while the dryer lint would burn up too quickly. I ended up using an old cereal box and toilet paper to manage to get the woodstove lit while being thankful that there was a furnace to keep the rest of the house warm while I was struggling. The whole process made me more thankful for the furnace that I had in my tiny apartment.
