Dusty air quality when doing home repairs

When my husband and I bought our house, it was a real dump.

The two of us planned on fixing it to become our dream home. We have been ripping out walls, flooring and fixtures left and right. Everything is being redone, fixed up and painted. Slowly the house is transforming to a beauty. Right now my husband and I are redoing the bathroom. That has become quite a mess. We don’t want dust to spread all throughout the house. So we keep the bathroom door closed and only open a window for ventilation. The indoor air quality in the tiny bathroom is just atrocious. The two of us are ripping up the flooring. It comes in pieces and dust flies everywhere. It gets in my hair, eyes and throat. I frequently forget to put on a dust mask as well. So I inhale the poor IAQ and I suffer for it later. I get where I can hardly open my eyes or speak. I get way more fatigued and feel almost sick like. Really the solution would be to run the AC device with air purification. The problem is that the house uses central AC. We had to block off the air vent so no dust gets into the ductwork. If that happened, dust would fly in every room of the house. It would be messy to clean up and expensive. So the two of us just have to deal with poor indoor air conditions a little while longer. I can’t wait to finish up that job in the bathroom.
